Head on over to Shibuya to visit Hachiko!

Hachiko, an Akita dog, is renowned for his unwavering loyalty, symbolizing devotion and fidelity in Japan. Born in 1923, Hachiko would accompany his owner, Hidesaburo Ueno, to Shibuya Station each day and wait for him to return from work. Tragically, Ueno passed away in 1925, but Hachiko continued to wait at the station every day for nearly ten years, hoping to see his beloved owner again.

His story touched the hearts of many, and Hachiko became a beloved figure in Tokyo. In 1934, a bronze statue was erected at Shibuya Station in his honor, serving as a meeting point and a poignant reminder of loyalty. Today, Hachiko’s legacy lives on, inspiring countless visitors and locals alike. His tale has also been adapted into films, further solidifying his status as a cultural icon. Let’s go see Hachiko together!
